What happens

Your flight, step by step

  1. Walk-around

We preflight the airplane together. I show you what every pilot checks before every flight.

  2. You fly

You help with the takeoff, then fly the plane yourself over Sand Hollow and the red rock around Hurricane.

  3. Debrief

Back on the ground, I give you an honest picture of what a license would take for you. No pressure.

  4. It counts

Your time is logged as flight training, so it counts toward a pilot license if you keep going.

Pricing

Choose your airplane

Each price covers one hour of Hobbs time (the engine clock), which works out to about 45–50 minutes in the air. Both are two-seaters, so it's just you and me.

Good to know

Common questions

Do I need experience or a medical certificate?

No. You need neither experience nor a medical certificate for a discovery flight. Just come ready to have fun.

Can a friend or family member ride along?

Both airplanes are two-seaters, so it's just you and me in the cockpit.

Why do you ask for weight?

Small training airplanes have weight limits, and I calculate them before every flight. Your answer stays private, and if anything needs adjusting I'll let you know before we schedule.

What's "Hobbs time"?

The Hobbs meter is the airplane's engine clock. It runs from engine start to shutdown, so your hour includes the taxi and run-up, with about 45–50 minutes of actual flying.

What if the weather is bad?

Safety comes first. If wind or weather isn't right, we reschedule at no cost.

Where do we meet?

Hurricane Municipal Airport (1L8), 748 W 2300 S, Hurricane, UT 84737. That's about 25 minutes from St. George. I'll text you exact directions when we confirm.

What should I wear or bring?

Comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes and sunglasses. I provide the headset.
